A debate that will be talked about for years, but who deserves the most credit for the Patriots’ dynasty??
So I just finished watching a Brady vs. Belichick: The Verdict 3-part series on VICE TV hosted by Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo. As many of us have done sitting in lawn chairs around a summer fire pit holding a Miller light, this debate helps get the boys going with a Brady versus Belichick debate that may not have a right answer, unless you’re 12 beers deep of course.
First and foremost, I highly recommend watching this 3-part series as there are facts, evidence, and storylines that they discuss while interviewing people involved in the Patriots’ dynasty that opened my eyes to many facets of this debate I was unaware of before. But let’s discuss where I’m at…
On the one hand, you can say, Tom Brady is fully responsible for the Patriots’ dynasty because he is the player on the field leading that team, that offense, and that great city of New England to multiple Super Bowl championships during his time under center. We saw 28-3 Super Bowls, we saw him beat “the greatest show on turf” against the St. Louis Rams, and even saw him win one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Without spoiling many of the details of the 3-part series that I highly recommend watching, it’s hard not to say the leadership, talent, and overall gravitas of Tom Brady is not enough to say he was the sole proprietor to the Patriot dynasty.
On the other hand, though, there is coach, Bill Belichick, who with his tightly tied up cut off sleeve hoodies, built mastermind, borderline genius, game plans that had every single opposing team during this dynasty, baffled, confused, and outright outmatched every single time they stared across spellcheck on the other sideline. Sure, you need a great quarterback to help lead a great offense, but this 3-part series goes in-depth about just how impressive that Bill Belichick’s game plan for his defences were during those years was compared to the rest. Even comparing to the Baltimore Ravens stellar defenses, and even the Legion of Boom in Seattle, Belichick created art when it came to defensive schemes, and game plans.
I can go much more in depth with the facts, research, and opinions of others on who should be the sole air to the archdiocese of the Patriots’ dynasty during the Brady and Belichick time, but I want it known here that I want YOU to be the one to tell me why you believe either or should be named the main reason the Patriots were the Patriots back during that time.
