Saquon Just Had The Greatest Divorce Of All-Time

So sorry Giants fans, feel free to look away from this (everyone else read it though)

You wanna talk about a guy getting out of a abusive relationship and then going on to marry a Sports Illustrated model, Saquon Barkley had as close to that as you can have for a professional athlete with his recent sports divorce over the New York Giants.

To set the scene for many of you, Saquon was on the New York Giants for 6 seasons where he won them a Rookie of the Year and made a whopping one playoff appearance during that time. In this past offseason, Giants GM Joe Schoen made a decision for the future of the franchise: not offering Saquon Barkley enough $$$ to stay and forcing him into the free agency market, then in turn being forced to invest their future in Daniel Jones as the leader of the organization. He was later released near the end of the regular season on November 22nd...

After the Giants gave Daniel Jones a 4-year, $160 million contract in March of 2023 (offseason that followed their only playoff win during his tenure), everyone in the Meadowlands area and beyond thought their Giants had found their guy. They, in fact, did not it turns out.

So Joe Schoen looking back on his decision was probably sitting there on his couch Sunday evening watching the Eagles and Saquon march up and down the field on the best quarterback and team in the league in the Kansas City Chiefs thinking to himself, "Wow, I better hit a homerun with our next QB draft pick this year, or I am toast!"

So to say Saquon had the greatest divorce in sports history may not be the biggest overstatement ever recorded here at Big Screen Sports. Saquon rejects the offer to re-sign with the Giants, all to sign the pretty much exact same dollar figure with the Eagles, break 2,000 yards rushing, and have the most rushing yards in a cumulative season (that includes the playoffs) of all-time with 2,504 yards.

Sure, Saquon didn't light it up in the Super Bowl as many of us predicted (and bet on), but he was one of the, if not the most impactful player on this Eagles team to help lead them to their first Super Bowl since 2018. When he is sitting across the table from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in his and the Giants' divorce precedings meeting, Saquon can sit up from his chair and know he won this divorce... BIG TIME!!
