There is no greater, more satisfying nap in the world than the golf nap, but what other naps “make the cut”?
After a morning workout, then powering through a turkey club on whole wheat and a few cheese strings, I came across my couch, a fleece blanket, and the golf channel.
I’m only 27 years young, but I know the importance of a weekend nap here and there for overall mental, physical, and psychological health. The golf nap is in a tier by itself.
There’s something about the golf nap and having on a golf tournament on your television in the middle of a Saturday afternoon, that just makes your eyes get a little heavier than they were before you turned that channel on. The soft whispering voices of the golf announcers, the quiet noises of nature, the wind rustling, and every soothing golf clap from the fans, it’s inevitable that you’re going down for a 20-30 minute power nap no questions asked.
So with that in mind, why not add a little Top 5 best naps to have rankings??
1) GOLF NAP
2) SICK/FLU NAP
3) VACATION NAP
4) NAP IN A RECLINER
5) POST-DINNER, PRE-11 PM MEN’S LEAGUE GAME NAP
HM: AIRPLANE NAP
So of course, golf nap is #1 on this list, but those days you stay home sick from work and you get to mix in a mid afternoon nap on a weekday, that’ll take you from a 2 to a 5 on the feeling better scale immediately.
Vacation naps are underrated, but something I don’t sleep on (no pun intended) and in day 5 or 6 of a seven day all inclusive booze fest, mixing in a 30-45 minute nap is life-changing for the rest of your trip.
If you’re someone who owns just a single recliner chair, you know why nap in a recliner made this Top Five list. The recliner may be one of the greatest inventions in our lifetimes that is not appreciated enough for its simplicity yet function it carries.
And lastly, my fellow men’s league players know the importance of a 8:30 PM nap on a Wednesday night before you square off with the rivals from down the road in your highly anticipated division 3 men’s league game at 11 PM. I don’t have the scientific proof in front of me, but I believe it adds another average 30-35 seconds onto your 2 1/2, 3 minute shifts you take in that game.
An honourable mention I had to throw in there is the airplane nap. It could happen at 5:45 AM or 11:10 PM, but that quick little snooze I can get on an airplane to not only pass the time but recharge the batteries, is a game changer for the travelling community.
What is your favourite kind of nap? Did I leave any off my list that I need to consider for next time?
